EBV viral load
What this test measures
EBV PCR measures Epstein-Barr virus in blood. After transplantation, immune suppression can let the virus multiply, and the level is watched because of a link with a lymphoma-like condition.
Why doctors request it
Transplant clinics monitor it, especially in people who had never met the virus before transplant.
What commonly pushes it up

Everyday reasons for a value outside the range
- Units differ between labs
- Low-level detection is common
