What this test measures

Rubella IgG is the long-lasting antibody after rubella vaccination (the R in MMR) or infection. It shows protection, which matters because rubella in pregnancy harms the baby.

Why doctors request it

Checked before pregnancy or fertility treatment, and in healthcare workers. It is no longer part of routine antenatal screening in England.
