What this test measures

The chlamydia test detects the bacterium's genetic material in a urine sample or swab. It is the standard test for the commonest bacterial sexually transmitted infection in the UK.

Why doctors request it

Offered to everyone under 25 who is sexually active, in sexual health clinics and by post.
