The modules
Most SME software is a stack of point solutions that each know a fraction of the truth. the Forum is the opposite arrangement: one record of the business, with modules that read and write to it.
Every organisation, contact and conversation in one place, deduplicated and linked to the projects and invoices they belong to. Built to hold a real relationship history rather than a list of stale email addresses.
Workstreams, owners, milestones and the actual state of play. Projects carry their own documents and decisions, so the answer to "where did we get to" lives with the work instead of in somebody's inbox.
Claims, receipts, categories and approval routing, with a clean export for the accountant or the payroll run. the Forum approves and exports. It never moves your money, which keeps the payment rails and the record-keeping properly separate.
Employment records, leave, onboarding and the documents that go with them. Approval chains follow the org structure you actually have, not the one the software assumes.

How it works
the Forum came out of running our own group of companies. Every design decision below exists because the alternative cost us a day we did not have.
A customer, a project and an invoice are the same objects everywhere they appear. Change the record once and every module reflects it, so the monthly reconciliation stops being a job.
Expenses, policies, leave and documents all route through the same approval engine, with the same audit trail and the same escalation rules. You configure the chain, not the plumbing.
Sector-specific language lives in configuration, never in the code. A clinic, a production company and a laboratory each see terms that make sense to them on the same underlying system.
Everything the Forum holds comes back out in an open format. If you leave, you leave with your data in a shape your next system can read.
Security and isolation
the Forum is built by the same team that builds our clinical systems, and it is held to the same standard. Isolation is not a filter in the application layer that a bug can bypass.
